Abstract

Green synthesis of copper nanoparticles using plant extracts and enzymes are eco-friendly and cost effective that does not need high pressure, energy, temperature or other poisonous chemicals for its preparation. Green synthesis of nanoparticles has become an emerging area of research which is preferred than physical or chemical methods as the green approach is considered as economical, non-toxic and eco-friendly. For this study, the turmeric-tulsi extract was used to synthesize copper nanoparticles and were characterized using UV-visible spectroscopy and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Turmeric and tulsi are traditional medicinal plants which are rich in beneficial phytocompounds which can mediate the synthesis of nanoparticles. UV-vis spectroscopy analysed the stability of the copper nanoparticles synthesized from these extracts. TEM determined the morphology of the synthesized copper nanoparticles. This is a novel study from which copper nanoparticles were synthesized easily in an eco-friendly manner using turmeric-tulsi extract and can be of vital importance in the growing world of advancements in diagnosis and medical treatments.
