Abstract

A broad ligament pregnancy is a very rare ectopic pregnancy that has a significant maternal and perinatal fatality rate. It's considerably more unlikely that such pregnancies will carry to term. Although ultrasonography can help with diagnosis, it is usually done via a laparotomy.G2P1 presented to us with abdominal pain at 39 weeks of pregnancy, which was an unbooked case. Ultrasonography revealed a live foetus with severe intrauterine growth restriction (estimated foetal weight of 1.98 kg), transverse lying, severe oligohydramnios, and full placenta praevia on ultrasound.Patient was taken for the caesarean section. Intraoperative diagnosis of left broad ligament pregnancy was made, foetus was removed alive and broad ligament along with placenta, left fallopian tube and ovary was excised. Post-operative period was uneventful. A high index of suspicion and prompt therapeutic intervention are necessary to prevent adverse fetal and or maternal outcome.
