Abstract

Bullying in schools is an issue that has ties to familial traits. The effects of parenting style and socioeconomic circumstances on students' involvement in school bullying for both victims and bully/victims are discussed. The phenomenon of school bullying, primarily relates to individual characteristics of the temperament and personality. We used Google-Scholar, PsycINFO, Scopus, and PubMed to perform a systematic analysis of the published literature from 1982 to 2020 on the topics of "school bullying," "parenting," and "socioeconomic variables." Cross-sectional, prospective cohort, and meta-analytic studies were also included. The review findings revealed that the quality of parental management and the inappropriate parental style, i.e. the authoritarian, overprotective, and indifferent, have a negative influence on students in all roles of bullying. Additionally, involvement of students in school bullying in all roles was linked to poor socioeconomic status. It was discovered that poor economic conditions and low educational attainment are associated to both parenting practises and the students who engage in school bullying. In conclusion, significant connections between parenting style, socioeconomic status, and school bullying appeared.
