Abstract

Breast cancer is the primary malignant neoplasia that kills women globally. Oxidative stress is an emergent risk factor for breast cancer, mostly due to the existence of a relationship between mitochondria-driven oxidative stress and the occurrence of age-related diseases. Many laboratories have focused their efforts in recent years on understanding the significance of oxidative stress generation in breast cancer disease, although understanding of a "cause and consequence" relationship is still lacking. In light of these issues, this review offers a comprehensive collection of information on oxidative stress research in the field of breast cancer, with an emphasis on data derived from human investigations.
