Abstract

Cancer is the second leading cause of death in Trinidad and Tobago and has created tremendous challenges for healthcare services and expenditures throughout the region. In this study, it was found that cancer could be attributedto risk factors such as cigarette smoking, second-hand smoke exposure, alcohol intake, excess body weights, bad diet, and cancer-associated infections.Manual searching of 4 electronic databases (PubMed, Medline, PMC, and Google Scholar) from September 2021 –August 2022 was done. The facts suggest that a large number of individuals have risk factors for cancer that may be modifiable or controllable.
